Trick or Treat!

Just imagine that her irises are a crimson red surrounding a pupil that is so black and vast, that even Lovecraft would shudder.

Well, it’s Halloween again. We’ve found that it’s typically pretty hard to give out candy over the internet, so we decided we’d have to do something different to celebrate. We considered getting some bats and training them to deliver candy for us, but we discovered that they didn’t have the capabilities of a homing pigeon and just flew off into the night after we let them go. We also sent out some penguins to help us, but they’re pretty incompetent. We decided that the only way to celebrate was to release some chapters of stuff today, and we hope they tickle your sweet tooth.

First up is SZS 180, which will finish up volume 18 on our end. Included are a couple of little papercraft projects included as omake. Sly has kindly provided an example, pictured above. Consider it a Halloween present.

For the third present, you may recall last month that we picked up a new manga – Hokkenshitsu. This new chapter will definitely be some eye candy for those into Yasu’s art. Due to a delay in raws, I didn’t get to typeset this until last night. I may have also said somewhere that this would be a weekly affair, but I was mistaken, it’s only a monthly manga. Next chapter should be out in a couple of weeks.

Well, finally got the chance to work on some SZS this week. Feels kind of weird getting back into the driver’s seat for this after nearly a month of having almost nothing to do with scanlating. Anyway, this week’s chapter of SZS kind of picks up where I left off – another rant about how bad spoilers are. I guess Kumeta wanted to get into the award-winning action too. Hopefully I’ll get around to finishing SZS 180 this week at some point, which will wrap it up for volume 18. Volume 19 will be next on the chopping block, but I think it only has two chapters left to do. It finally seems that we’re making some solid progress on this front, and hopefully we’ll have it finished up by the time the final SZS chapter rolls around.

Special thanks goes to those who came and talked to us on IRC (it gets lonely there sometimes), and for those who were spurred to action by our special plea. We still need a quality cleaner for Fate/Kaleid raws and some people to erase the text from SZS and Katteni Kaizo raws. I should add that if you’re interested, please please please join the IRC channel, as it makes coordinating things so much easier.

Raw cleaners would also be immensely helpful at the very least. (sly needs quality cleaners to help with Fate/Kaleid) Backlog needs to be cleared out so we can focus on staying on top of currently running series, as well as to pick up any series that may possibly catch our overambitious eyes. Dibs on the Penguindrum manga, if one ever starts.
